Business in the Community's Awards for Excellence identify and celebrate companies having a positive impact on the community, environment, marketplace and workplace.
Run in association with the Financial Times, the awards recognise and celebrate those companies who have shown innovation, creativity and a sustained commitment to corporate responsibility.
Peer-assessed, the Big Tick award is the most respected endorsement of responsible business practice. Now in their twelfth year, they are the UK’s leading Awards for responsible business practice.
The Big Tick is awarded to businesses able to demonstrate significant impact and high quality management of their responsible business practices. The companies must show a positive impact both on society and on the business.
The decision to award the Big Tick is made by a panel of independent, experienced practitioners, and as such is both hard won (only 39% of applicants in 2008 were successful) and highly prestigious.
This year there were 358 entries across 14 National Categories. 106 Big Ticks were awarded, along with 81 reaccreditions.
To find out more, and to see which categories each of the companies has been nominated for, download the Financial Times Responsible Business Supplement. The download is free, and in two parts.
The Example of Excellence is the award given out to the overall winner of each category. The Example of Excellence company will have demonstrated excellence in their responsible business practices. They will have grown and developed their responsible business practices so that they are fully integrated into their mainstream operations.
